the sad truth...

If I would be given a chance to bring back the one of the happiest days of my life, I would choose my high school life. Perhaps few would contradict on my statement that high school days are the best experience every student would have. This is the stage where personalites and characteristics change. We grow being a better human through the experiences we gained. It is the first step in becoming a developed and functional individual.

Most of the students I have asked about what they miss, it seems that they always answer, "siyempre noong high school". I couldn't blame them for uttering such thing because honestly I feel the same way. I have experienced the days being a kid, weeks being a boy, months being a teenager and years being who I am now. If there was a time machine invented, I would try to open the world ofthe past and once again have a quick glance on the years I have stayed in my Alma Mater. I would have felt being in a long journey and at last, coming homeagain. It would be a colorless feeling seeing yourself on the false realitywhere you cannot go back but just reminisce who you were. The feeling of beingsad is right there and there but the everlasting agony being away from home isjust a "past".

The name Eduardo was all I could hear during those days. I got to know every heart and got some of the part as my own. I have known every mind and them on me. We bonded with firm tie and created a bond of friendship. The name Eduardo wasn't an ordinary name anymore. It was a known name to everybody who had held my heart. There was a time when the name Eduardo was now replaced by the name Nino (ninyo). They have conquered my life and knew me profoundly. They had a strong grip on who I was and who I'am today. These people cared and still care so much to me. Yes, they are milesaway but their memories are within me. They have transformed me from being akid down to being the best and full-grown man.

Reminiscing the days have passed is a suicide. It will only make me gloomy or insane. I've never said the life being a high school student is a hell-like experience. I've never said that last four years were agonizing. I would just want to express how reality speaks for itself. I emphasize the feeling being away from the people close to your heart; the feeling being in reality and the past as your nightmare. But then again no one can blame anyone. Life is tricky and if you don't know how todance with the rhythm of the song, you can never survive...........................................

misses this..

Waa! Finally ! I am able to write again here in my blog. I posted my last entry last May and many weeks passed without even visiting this blog.
I was very busy last three weeks because of my pigeons and other recreations. I went to many places just to buy these precious birds. haayss.. You know if I want something, I make it a point that I would have it whatever happens.

Last week was the first week of our class but yesterday was mine.:) I didn't able to go to school due to my SEVERE tonsilitis.. hahha.. Everytime they asked me about what happened, I always gave emphasis on the word severe. BTW, I have 25 units and 9 subjects this semester. I'm really nervous on my subject Drama and Drama workshop because I'm O.A when I act! nakakainis tlga kc na trauma ako when we had a play way back elementary. I portrayed the role of Don Fernando waaa! yoko na maalala...

I have a very successful love-life right now. My bhebhe has forgiven me despite of the things I have done wrong. We continue our wonderful days together. Sarap tlaga pag in love nu? Although sometimes masakit sa ulo, the feeling that someone is caring and loving you everyday would be a different feeling na hirap mawala.. so happy! :)

Hermes in me...

Hermes “The Messenger of the Gods”

Hermes was the son of Zeus and Maia, the daughter of Atlas. He was Zeus' winged messenger, being the fastest of the gods. He was the god of thieves and commerce as well as the guide for the dead when they first sought the house of the dead. He invented the lyre, the pipes, the musical scale, astronomy , weights and measures, boxing, gymnastics, and the care of olive trees.

I chose Hermes not because I experienced portraying his character but because of the distinctiveness he possesses. Hermes’ character is not really strong compare to other Gods and Goddesses. I could see the goodness in his character. I could see myself to him when it comes to braveness, modesty, hospitality, and all those. Everytime I see him, I would always smile and tell myself that “that’s me”.

Hermes is known for his swiftness. He sends messages from Gods. In relation to myself, I make it a point that I finish a certain thing instantly. I’m a person who always does a thing hastily. I don’t give rooms for sluggishness. I work with a full effort and deep thinking.

Gordon University: Hope or Wish?

Eduardo Velasco

Every educational institution is truly longing for a higher level when it comes to giving quality education. They seek to improve what they have and try to dig up what they don’t possess. They dream of becoming a center for excellence and be renowned among all the institutions around the globe.

Gordon College is one of these institutions which dreams of becoming a so- called university. The City, along with the officers of the government kept mentioning the transformation of Gordon College to Gordon University in every assembly or city events which I believe a very wrong thing to brag about. In the first place, does it reach the average requirement of being a university?

Few of the faculty in GC finished their master’s degree which is a major requirement to be an instructor. You could really count in your fingers who among them have finished their doctorate degree in education. When it comes to the competence of the faculty I believe we are not qualified. The facilities are not conducive to the students. The rooms are not good enough, the library, although transferred to a bigger place is not comfortable to be into, the college lacks essential facilities such as speech laboratory, bio laboratory, clinic – inactive, etc., the very long lines of students when paying their tuition fees because of the college has only ONE cahier, the “open gate 2” with non-GC students going inside and out, the group of goats crying MEeeehhh… Meeehhhh.. Do we call it a university or even a college?

Being a university is a very long and complicated process. As a matter of fact, if I’m not mistaken, Columban College which is 50 years now finds it hard to attain there aged dream. Compare to GC, they are far better when it comes to faculty, facilities and all. Although Gordon College produces competitive students and having a high rank in passing percentage, we shouldn’t take this as a way to be confident with regards on pushing thoroughly about GC being a university. Yes. The passing rate would indicate a good college but this alone cannot indicate a huge and complicated point of transformation. GC needs to grow more and improve all aspects gradually. It is in actual fact, novice since it began. 11 years would age many long years before they get hold of what they dream. But for now, it has to continue providing good quality education and produce excellent and competent students that would help the city and as well as the country in attaining success.

"Play" -- not just a play ..

I have watched lots of play here and outside Olongapo. I've seen them dance , sing and act. But this one is my favorite. I truly appreciate the works of art.

FYI, I graduated in a curriculum specializing in arts- Special Program in the Arts known as SPA. I took Music as my major and Instruments as my minor. I also experienced competing in other places and the most memorable is in Bulacan. I was one of the actors in the musical play showing the history and achievements of Olongapo City. Luckily, we won the 2nd place. :)

I don't see myself as an omnicient when it comes to arts. I only know a little but I could really understand it. I'm a person who would rather watch a play or to watch a concert. I love ARTS as a whole!.

Last week, If I'm not mistaken, our professor gave us a complementary ticket for the play Ismail and Isabel. I hurriedly accepted the ticket and excitedly went to Subic Bay Convention Center. I saw students , teachers and other enthusiatic people about theater arts. I also saw my mentor way back in high school and greeted him a pleasant day. She is presently a member of PETA. She is also the director of many plays that SPA curriculum creates. She's really amazing.

I sat and watched the movie engrossly. I really enjoyed the play! The lights, props , stage management were really a two-thumbs up! I really hope to see more plays as great as that.
